My Thoughts on Poverty Porn

I just happened to read an item in the Hindustan Times of 10 March 2011 which reported that the British charity Oxfam is sponsoring a comic book for the Indian children to make them aware of Communalism in India. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. To identify an activity as communal the first thing we need to do is identify what secularism truly is. Not secularism according to any British charity wallahs or their Indian followers but according to the Constitution of India. Hence this blog.

Socialism and Secularism are not defined or explained in the Indian Constitution so who will be the arbiter here to explain socialism and secularism? Oxfam, academics, intellectuals, artists, journalists, politicians, charities, busy bodies, movie stars, writers, Booker prize winners?! None of these entities are competent authorities to define socialism and secularism under the Indian Constitution. If a definition is given for these cardinal constitutional principles like socialism and secularism in the Indian Constitution these career socialists and secularists could become unemployed!!!

As regards Oxfam they ought to be aware that there are about a million or so British charities dealing with all sorts of issues under the planet and collecting money. Several of these British charity wallas are paid high six figures in British pounds and Euros. They collect money from the gullible British people by showing them heart wrenching pictures from the developing countries such as India. It is estimated that the British Charity industry is hoarding about £90 billion and several charities lost money in the stock market crash in the wake of the credit crunch. Imagine the employment potential of the British charities to the UK GDP

The UK Charity wallas stopped the business with China now as China could any day make their pounds and Euros worthless due its $3 trillion dollar currency reserves. China still has around 200 million people living on less than one dollar a day which is roughly half the population of the European Union. Yet the British & European charities are not interested. May be it is because their wiggle room to intimidate the developing world with their GDP figures along with per capita incomes is now very shaky. The truth is that in any accounting systems there should be a double entry. If national GDP figures are relevant the national debt figures are also relevant. In the UK's case the national GDP is around £1.5 trillion and the national debt is around £5 trillion in 2010 which is poised to rocket to £10 trillion by 2015. There is a massive pension black hole in the UK which is about £1trillion. This itself exposes that the percapita net income is minus £75,000 a year. Yet the British Charities are not concerned although charity begins at home!!!!

If Oxfam is interested in legitimate charity they should help the Indian people get back their Black Money stashed away in European tax havens including in the Swiss Banks or help India get back all the looted heritage from Britain including sacred, semi-sacred and secular antiques besides several invaluable diamonds like the Kohinoor, pearls, jewels, precious stones etc stashed away in British Museums, other charitable and educational institutions under the duress of European colonialism of India. They will never do it as their industry is dependent on poverty porn. The Tower of London where the Kohinoor is exhibited is one of the most visited tourist locations in London attracting several millions of tourists. Had the Kohinoor been in India or shared with India on a win win basis India could attract more tourists creating tens of thousands of jobs in India from that one diamond alone.

My elder daughter studies in a private school in the UK. She showed her friends the pictures of our house in Kerala. By all standards our house is only a reasonably good house in the locality. She told me her friends at her private school wondered, " We never thought that there could be such good houses in India". The poverty porn practised by the European charities are also damaging the good will of India as an investment and tourist destination through good will denigration. It is not because of any third rate European charities or human rights organisations that the people of Egypt finally brought about spectacular political change over there. The British charities are also a major cause behind the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Britain. India has about 140 million Muslims and there are no reported cases of them fighting against the NATO in Afghanistan. Yet hundreds of British Muslims are said to be fighting against British forces in Afghanistan.

The British charity wallahs are the primary cause behind the projection of Palestine as the only place in West Asia lacking democracy and the only victimised lot. Now the Charity Wallahs are exposed for their hypocracy. The same was their tactics with the Kashmiri terrorists. Now they have moved on to the Maoists and Naxals in India. How do you think 40 Nobel Prize winners from 12 European countries write to the Indian Prime Minister for the immediate release of Dr. Binayak Sen a person accused of acting as a conduit for terrorists? I do not know the guilt or lack of guilt of Dr. Sen but I know the Indian Prime Minister if he were to ensure the immediate release of Dr.Sen would be committing contempt of court, breach of his Oath of Office, obstruction of justice as the matter is before the High Court. What do these third rate Nobel Prize winners think? That India is a banana republic?

These British charities often show heart wrenching pictures of the starving, diseased, homeless, and frail besides that of animals from developing countries to collect money from the vulnerable British people. This poverty porn coverage of developing countries has a bearing on their tourist arrivals. It is easy to understand which foreign tourist would want to visit a country blighted by disasters, filth, poverty, beggars, disabled, open drains and the lot whilst only showing off BBC's favourite the Taj Mahal? There are thousands of fabulous temples and palaces all over India some of which make the Buckingham Palace look cluttered. If the travel, aviation and the hospitality industry (the tourism industry) in India were to file a class action in the USA for lost earnings and employment due to the denigration of their country by these British charities could go bankrupt.

Amnesty International a British charity was exposed by the UK Sunday Times as having close connections with some terror suspects in the UK. Amnesty was also exposed by the Sunday Times about the £300,000 plus severance package given to their lady CEO. Imagine how many houses can be built in India or Africa with this £300,000 severance package. It is about Rs.2.4 crores in Indian currency. The annual budget of the Amnesty International is about £21 million which is about Rs 160 crores which should be seen in the context that the Tata's in India are planning to offer affordable housing for the low income families at about £7000 and £10,000 for one and two bedroom flats. So how many flats could have been built with £21 million per annum? About 2100. Most of the British charity money is spent on the wages of the British charity employees, their call centre staff, volunteer's commissions etc. This is why despite years of charity porn the poverty in India or in Africa or in South America is not tamed. Sir Bob Geldoff another charity wallah who wanted to make "poverty history" in 2000/01 did not even pay the proper stamp duty for his palatial home according to the last week's Sunday Times.

Many British charities have Royal Patrons including the British Queen to give a boost to their charity business. Green Peace another British charity knows fully well that half of the UK government owned premises are schools. Yes thousands of British schools. Yet only 12 of them were found to be energy conserving. Yet they do not do any campaign in the UK to address this issue. The biggest cause of pollution anywhere is inefficiency which causes the wastage of non renewables like human and natural resources, time and investment. Yet Green Peace is not interested. Another side effect of poverty porn is that it creates contempt in the impressionable minds of the British children for developing countries. This contempt creates complacency in young British minds. Complacency often leads to defeat in a highly competitive world. This is a side effect of denigrating others. Further more, poverty porn places all the burdens on the government for welfare schemes. Without compelling the British charities to spend their money in Britain David Cameron's "Big Society" may not succeed. So poverty porn is an enemy of both Britain and the developing countries at a macro level.

These British charity wallahs could have brought about a meeting of the British and Indian small and medium scale industries benefiting both our nations creating millions of employment in both our countries. They do not want to do that as they relish their right to patronize Indians and citizens of other developing countries. If the open drains were to disappear how can the British Bragging Corporation's (the BBC) cameras focus on it? There are about a million plus households in dire straits in the UK as all that shines is not gold but made with huge borrowings. Millions of People in the UK are neck deep in debt. Yet these charity wallas have no solutions for them. Two weeks ago the Sunday Times published a feature about the leftist lobby in the British schools and since a Deputy School head spoke against it she is now treated as a pariah and can't even get any school jobs. The Deputy Head in question is said to be planning to set up her own school now. So you can infer why the Oxfam wants to focus on Communalism. The BBC, the British Charity Industry, the British School system are all hot beds of not only leftists ideology and some even treat the terrorists with softie softie kid gloves. The carbon foot print of the British Charity Wallahs through international travel and five star life if it were properly audited and placed in the public domain could shock us all.

Many British charities and institutions even receive donations from dictators like Gaddaffi as was exposed by the Sky news in the UK. The so called world famous London School of Economics (LSE) took or received commitments for a million pounds in donation from Gaddaffi's son. The poor and the suffering around the world in whose names these British charities ply their scavenger business of poverty porn now is left with no option but to say to them in loud and clear voice "NO TO POVERTY PORN PLEASE". It is therefore time we all said "NO TO POVERTY PORN PARASITES"
